📚👓🦻 Aging Simulation Brings Learning to Life! 🦽💙
On September 11, our amazing community partner, Arcadia Living, visited the Allied Health Professions classroom to provide students with a firsthand look at the challenges many older adults face every day.
Students participated in an aging simulation by wearing specialized equipment that mimicked decreased vision, hearing, tactile sensation, mobility, and strength. They then attempted to complete simple everyday tasks, gaining valuable insight into the physical and sensory changes that can come with aging.
This engaging, hands-on experience brought our classroom lessons about geriatric patients to life and helped prepare students as they begin their clinical rotations. Experiences like these build empathy, understanding, and the essential skills needed to provide compassionate patient care.
