We want to congratulate our very own Jenn Claytor for the completion of her Childhood Development Associate credential! Last night, Mrs. Claytor was honored, along with several of her colleagues, at our Board of Education meeting. Mrs. Claytor completed this rigorous process over 2 years, taking classes at Chesapeake College, creating and submitting a professional portfolio, completing the Maryland Credentialing Exam, and also having multiple classroom visits and audits from the Maryland State Department of Education. We are so proud of the hard work and dedication that she put in to earn this credential! 🐾✨ Let's give a warm welcome to Ms. Colleen France, our new School Psychologist at Preston Elementary!
With a Bachelor's in Psychology and both a Master's and Certificate of Advanced Study in School Psychology from Towson University, Ms. France brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our school. After completing her internship at LMS in Caroline County, this is her first year as a full-fledged school psychologist, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her!
Ms. France was inspired to become a school psychologist to serve those in our community who might not otherwise have access to mental health services.
She plans to support our students' mental health with compassion and empathy, making sure every student feels seen, heard, and understood.
Outside of work, Ms. France loves traveling to faraway places (she visited Nova Scotia and Morocco this summer), doing jigsaw puzzles, taking day trips, crafting, and ticking off her bucket list (and adding new items!). And here's a fun fact: she was a pastry chef for 20 years before becoming a school psychologist!
Her message to our school community: "My door is always open. My shoulders are strong. My ears are always ready to listen. My heart is always full of love ready to share."
Welcome to the Preston family, Ms. France! We’re thrilled to have you with us! 🐾✨ #PESPantherpride

🐾 🎉 We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Deja Thompson as our new Community Schools Coordinator at Preston Elementary! With a wealth of experience in education, including roles as an instructional assistant, mentor, math interventionist, and After/Summer School Coordinator, Mrs. Thompson is bringing her passion and dedication to our school community.
Her main goals for this school year include learning more about our growing Preston community to bring programs and opportunities that families truly want and need. She’s committed to connecting our school with the community through engaging programs and strong family connections.
Outside of work, Mrs. Thompson enjoys listening to true crime and comedy podcasts, creating memories with her growing family, and she has a fun love for The Grinch!
Join us in giving Mrs. Thompson a warm welcome to the Preston family – we’re so excited to have her on board! 🎉 🐾 #WelcomeToPES #PrestonPantherPride
