CAREERS IN COSMETOLOGY
This in-depth program focuses on theory and practical skill applications in the areas of hair, nail, and esthetic care; as well as chemistry, anatomy and physiology, business, communication, and state laws, rules and regulations. Upon completion of the course and completion of the required number of hours mandated by the Maryland State Board of Cosmetology, students will take a written and practical examination to become licensed to administer professional services to the public. Students participate in salon rotations and working on clients in the school salon.

IS IT THE RIGHT FIT FOR ME?
Careers in cosmetology are a good fit for anyone who likes people and likes helping them feel and look their best. Cosmetologists must stay current on the latest fashion trends and styles, and must also be willing to learn about new products and technologies introduced in the field. Attention to detail and high standards of hygiene/cleanliness are very important. Some cosmetology careers involve standing for long periods of time, so it can be physically demanding work. Most cosmetologists will work at least some hours on weekends and in the evening.
